The Cancer Investor Conference October 30th & 31st to Unveil Global Cancer Database for Investors
NEW YORK – Altru Institute, organizer of the Global Cancer Consortium, has announced that a global database of innovative cancer companies will premiere at the Cancer Investor Conference in New York, October 30 – 31. The event will showcase promising opportunities in emerging private and public companies focused on cancer.
Progress is best advanced if there is a high amount of collaboration among the organizations working towards cures and treatments said Brett Johnson, co-founder of Altru Institute. “Our role is to identify the promising investment opportunities and to work with the leading research groups as the National Foundation for Cancer Research and broader public policy groups such the Biden Cancer Initiative to maximize connectivity and communication among all involved.”
Altru Institute is a humanitarian think tank that fosters collaboration among organizations addressing humanitarian causes. The initiative was introduced at the New York Oncology Conference May 8th and 9th that convened 30 promising companies and strategic, financial and impact investors. Altru believes that modest improvements in awareness among all organizations involved will deliver a dramatic result in the aggregate.
“We felt that the database and web resource would be a terrific resource for the life science and oncology investment communities, and the first step to connectivity which can then lead to further collaboration,” said Bill Werkmeister who is founding Partner of the International Cancer Impact Fund and a Board Member of the Global Cancer Consortium. Members of the Consortium will, for the first time, have access to a global database of all investable projects. It is expected that upon release it will include nearly 700 companies that are profiled.
The database will anchor a suite of communications tools to advance companies and technologies. The suite will include a website that profiles of member companies, a newsletter that follows their progress, and conferences that bring the key actors together.
Companies can list in this database by completing a simple application. Companies interested in membership will have their profiles reviewed by a panel of experts for the purpose of matching them with investors and strategic partners. Member companies can also apply to present at periodic cancer conferences, a series of which are being developed.
“The conference is highly curated event will include presentations by thought leaders in the field of oncology, as well as life science investors (both funds and family offices) who will lead discussions on challenges and opportunities in oncology,” said Bob Trehy, Senior Vice President of OneMedMarket, organizer of the conference.
Sessions on Artificial Intelligence and new Financial Models will offer insights into dramatic changes that may be on horizon. A keynote address will be by Greg Simon, President of the Biden Cancer Initiative. Altru Institute will be hosting a salon for Mr. Simon on August 21st in New York to describe the Biden Cancer Community Summit to be held in communities across the United States on September 21st.
Sponsors of the Consortium and the Conference include the National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR), The International Cancer Impact Fund (ICIF), Venable Law Firm, Wilson Sonsini, and Marcum. It will be held at Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan, sponsored by Venable, an international law firm and is being produced by OneMedForum and MediaWerks.
